CHOW OUT

STARBUCKS:

No matter what anyone says, I really love Starbucks. I was there this morning with a friend of mine and realized how daunting the Starbucks menu might be if you are trying to get your caffeine fix and watch your health.

As a general recommendation, I do not think caffeine is great for everyone or in excess...but nonetheless here are my favorite orders:

- High caffeine: Grande Americano with an inch and a half of steamed heavy whipping cream.
- Low Caffeine:Iced Green tea without sweetner
- Low Caffeine/ Milk free: Hot Jasmine Green tea with steamed soy milk

I prefer to bring my own Stevia sweetner with me...which can be bought at most grocery stores these days. The syrups are loaded with sugar and the sugar free syrups are loaded with artifical toxins...so stay away from them!

LUCKY STRIKE LANES AND LOUNGE:

If you like bowling, loud music, and good hip fun then this is the place for you! And have fear about the food, I scoped it out when I was there yesterday...and I was surprised to find out that they have many menu options for the health conscious bowler!

And if you happen to really like bowling, you can also check out their specials for special events. I went there for Father's Day and it was a great time!



My nutritional tips:

- Chicken satay sticks or tomato cheese smores for appetizers
- Any sandwhich or burger with lettuce instead of a bun ( great tip for most American eateries! ) and if you are following Gluten free and/or low carb eating.
-Red wine if you're up for it!

ZINC CAFE:

Located in the cute, downtown area of Laguna Beach and a walk, skip, n' a jump from the shore, Zinc Cafe is a cute Vegetarian find, even for those who are carnivore eating...!

Unlike the usual almost "hippy dippy" atmosphere of many animal-free eateries, Zinc Cafe is chic, eclectic, and gourmet. They offer a vast array of deli goods (my fav!) that are purchased by the pound, coffee drinks, and even Peonies by the bunch! To top it off they sell grain free, gluten free cookies, could we ask for anything more?


My Nutritional Tips:

-Use the deli counter to pick exactly what you want to eat for balance according to your Macro- Nutrients: Carb/ Proteins/Fats
-Treat yourself to Dark Chocolate or Gluten Free treats
- Check out their selection of bottled tea for a low sugar beverage!
